It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that I write to inform you of the passing of John Beveridge Pearce.

John had been ill for some time and put up a good fight that he sadly lost early this morning.

John joined the Carltonians in 1995 and was deservedly made a Life Member earlier this year.

While I have lots of wonderful memories from the 10 years that I have known John, the one endearing memory I have is sharing a glass of red (or three) from behind the glass with him at the footy.

A gentleman and a true friend to all he knew, I’m not sure I ever heard John say a bad word about anyone, with the possible exception of an umpire or two!

Just this weekend John watched the Grand Final with his good friend Bruce Craib. I believe a meat pie and a red wine were involved and it was a great day!

John will be sorely missed by all Carltonians and on behalf of all members, my condolences go to John's family and friends at this sad time.

In due course I will advise all members of funeral arrangements once they become available.

Our match-day functions and Coterie will be the poorer for not having you with us John, but your smile and laugh will not be forgotten.

Rest in peace.
